How Orthodontics Can Correct Your Teeth

One thing we all know for sure — braces help straighten our teeth. However, both traditional braces and Invisalign aligners help with much more than just a crooked smile. Learn more about how Dr. Arman Dayan and the rest of the team at Dental Arts of Beverly Hills can help you.

Common Issues That Orthodontic Treatment Can Help Fix

Overcrowding

One of the most common issues for patients seeking orthodontic treatment is overcrowding teeth. This is when your teeth are too close together and the overlap in your jaw. Overcrowded teeth can cause people a lot of pain when chewing. An orthodontist may suggest braces or removable retainers (think Invisalign) to help space the teeth out and realign them.

Underbites

Underbites are when the top and bottom jaw are misaligned, causing the lower jaw to protrude outwards from the bottom of the mouth. Underbites can cause tooth overlapping as well and can also lead to teeth staining and extra bacteria.

Spacing

Spacing problems can be caused by missing teeth (which may also be genetic), or it may be a cosmetic issue. Braces and elastics can easily fix this issue.

Crossbites

A crossbite is when one or more of the teeth on the lower jaw sit outside the upper teeth (and along the side of your jaw).

Periodontal Disease

Periodontal disease (or gum disease) is very common, especially if you suffer from one of the dental issues above. For instance, overlapping teeth or teeth with wide gaps can lead to a large number of bacteria sitting inside your mouth. This bacteria can affect your oral health and lead to gum disease, so orthodontic treatment is very important to combat this issue.

Proper orthodontic care can result in a healthier mouth, an improved appearance, and healthy teeth that can last a lifetime. If you have misaligned teeth, our dental team at Dental Arts of Beverly Hills can help you improve your smile.
